It’s possible to run Scrin.io along with different applications, such as project management software, or pull data from reports. In this article, we present some of the possibilities.
API v2
Using Scrin.io API web service in JSON format, it’s possible to retrieve tracked time and task notes by employees. Using this data, you can integrate Scrin.io with your project management, accounting or other back-end processes.
Go to the ‘My Account’ page and find the API section.
Scrin.io provides a complete RESTful API to read and manage all your data. Every request should have an X-SSM-Token HTTP header (use the token value available on your ‘My Account’ page).
You can find the documentation here and have a C# example here.
Integrating with project management platforms
You can integrate Scrin.io with project management tools like Basecamp, Asana, and Pivotal Tracker using references. Simply add a task ID prefixed with ‘#’ (e.g., #245) to your notes, and Scrin.io will capture it in a “Ref #” field when exporting reports to Excel (Detailed report only) or accessing data via API. The reference can be any word starting with #.
Another way it is often used is to add notes on common tasks or categories like #support, #meeting, #UnitTesting, etc. When managers export it to Excel, they will get these categories in the “Ref #” field. This makes it easy to get a summary (using Excel pivot tables, for example) of how many hours were spent on each of these tasks/categories.
